The body we move through life with every day is the body that is physically present and visible. We wash it, dress it, care for it, feed it, and we cannot live without it. But did you know that in addition to this physical body, you also have three other bodies that need attention, care, and love too?

The 4 bodies are the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual body.
These four bodies each hold both masculine and feminine energy. The two masculine are physical and mental. The two feminine are emotional and spiritual. It is important to acknowledge and nurture all of them equally. In the society we live in, the focus is mostly placed on masculine energies (yang). This disrupts the balance of the four bodies and can create blocks, because we give too little attention and recognition to the feminine energies.
The Physical Body
This body is our vehicle and we need it to get through life. We recognize each other by how we look and work to keep the body healthy by eating well, exercising, and being mindful of it.Our body consists of many systems we can observe and care for. Like the digestive system, the muscular system, the immune system, the respiratory system, our organs, as well as our skeleton and nervous system. The physical body constantly gives us signals to tell us what is going well and what is not. Are you getting a cold or flu symptoms? That’s your immune system. Feeling tired or dizzy? This might relate to your glucose levels. And so on. Your body is always speaking. You can learn to notice these changes and respond consciously.
The Emotional / Energetic Body
This is an energetic body, but it expresses itself through our physical body. That means we can feel it deeply. Our emotions are energy, but they are produced by our organs, which connect to other energetic components in the system — such as the meridians (do you know them from Traditional Chinese Medicine?) or the chakras, the energy centers, and our aura. Many alternative healers work with this body and use tools or techniques to release imbalances from it. Think of Emotion Code or Reiki for example.
The Mental Body
This body relates to our capacity to think. Our thoughts, beliefs, the will to do or not do something. But also our memories or the image we hold of something or someone. These are all mental components that shape part of our personality.Sometimes we experience external influences that affect how we think. This can show up negatively in our mental body. Think of prolonged stress, trauma, negative self-talk, sleep deprivation, isolation and loneliness, or the use of alcohol or drugs that manipulate our neurotransmitters. Some of this imbalance can be found through The Body Code, which also focuses on our mental well-being.
The Spiritual Body
This body is the spiritual (and also energetic) part of ourselves. Many refer to it as the higher self, but I encourage you to think of it as your inner divine self. Because this essence lives within us — not above us. It is our core, our spirit, and it belongs inside our being. Our spiritual body is our compass — guiding us to compassion, love, and connection. Without judgment. To nourish this body, you can meditate, do breathwork, express gratitude, or journal. It might not feel tangible at first. This often takes practice.Have you been doing the inner work for a while and sense a block? I can support you with that. Want to book a session right away? Click here.
